Our coat drive will run
The bus will be located at Bill’s Party Store at 1153 East Grand River and will be the only collection location.
Adult and childrens’ clean, useable coats will be collected along with outwear (hats, mittens, gloves, and boots). Snow pants are especially needed.
PLEASE donate only coats and outerwear items. General clothing and garage sale items will NOT be collected.
The Coat Giveaway will be Saturday, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 8867 Kent Street, Portland. Coats and warm outerwear are available to anyone in need of them.
Again - we cannot stress enough - PLEASE DO NOT DONATE GENERAL CLOTHING OR GARAGE SALE ITEMS. Coats and outerwear items (such as hats, mittens, gloves and boots) are only being collected. We sincerely appreciate your consideration, but we have no use for those items in our coat drive.
Other options to get a coat (coats and clothing are free of charge) is to visit the Portland Community Clothes Closet located at the Portland United Methodist Church, 310 Bridge Street.
Portland Community Clothes Closet is open Mondays, 9 am to 12 pm, and Thursdays, 4pm to 6pm.
The Portland Community Fund board members would like to thank everyone for their donations and help. We appreciate the support of our community. The coat drive and giveaway is one example of how generous and caring the Portland residents are.
The entire project truly is “Neighbors Helping Neighbors”.
