Who We Are & What We Do
September 1, 2010
Dear Portland Resident,
With over 20 years of serving the Portland community, we
continue our mission to enhance the quality of life for all citizens, now and
for generations to come. We accomplish
this goal by collecting funds and providing services to many of our community
members who are in need of assistance.
Over the past year Portland Community Fund has accomplished the
following:
- Christmas Giving Program: Our Christmas Giving program provided a
Christmas dinner, socks, hats and gloves to 650 individuals in179
families in the Portland School District. In addition, 358 children
received gifts and a shoebox filled with goodies. Residents of local
nursing homes received personal care items. The remaining food was
donated to the local food banks.
- Coat Drive: Every October a coat drive is held. In
2010, over 600 coats were collected. Over 115 people got coats on
distribution day. All of the coats not given out in Portland were
sent to Ionia for distribution by the Department of Human Services.
- Distributed $16,300 in funding to local and
county nonprofit agencies that provide essential programs to Portland community
members of all ages.
- Other Requests: Also when requested, assistance is
provided for families in need due to fire or special circumstances.
Limited funds are available for local emergencies.
Your gift to the Portland Community Fund directly impacts
residents in the Portland School district and is tax deductible on the Federal
level. To allow the Portland Community Fund
Association to continue its mission of caring, we have set our fundraising goal
for the 2010-2011 at $15,000. In order
to reach our goal, we need to seek your assistance for financial support by
doing the following:
Please make a donation by sending a check payable to the
Portland Community Fund Association and mail to:

community. Thank you for your
generosity.

the funds are used, please feel free to contact any Portland Community Fund
